A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Garus Gololo, has revealed reasons why Delta elder statesman, Edwin Clark, has not made any comment about issues in the Niger Delta.
Gololo said that the elder statesman does not comment on issues affecting Niger Delta unless it has to affect him personally.
He said that he had watched the Ijaw leader keenly and did not see his comment on the 13 per cent oil derivation to the host communities.
He stressed that the payment was approved by General Sani Abacha and repeated by former President Muhammadu Buhari but Chief Clark has failed to stop governors from scuttling the funds.
“I say this because, Edwin Clark in his records, has never spoken on issues that benefit the Niger Delta except what nourishes his personal life. I have watched him with keen interest but had failed to notice him advocate for the payment of the 13 per cent oil derivation to the host communities. That derivation, was approved by General Sani Abacha and also was repeated by former President Muhammadu Buhari yet Edwin Clark could do nothing to stop Governors from scuttling the money,” Gololo said.
