Nigeria’s Flying Eagles aim to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations as they face Morocco on Sunday (today).
The crucial Group B match will take place at the June 30 Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
The Flying Eagles started their campaign on a high note, defeating Tunisia 1-0 on Thursday, with Akwa United midfielder Auwal Ibrahim scoring the only goal of the match just seven minutes before halftime.
On the other hand, Morocco secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Kenya in their opening game.
The last time these two teams met was in the 2005 tournament semi-finals, where they drew 2-2 before Nigeria triumphed 5-3 in a penalty shootout.
This match will mark Nigeria’s 99th appearance at the U-20 AFCON, as they chase their 57th victory.
The Flying Eagles are unbeaten in their last four second group matches (W3 D1), with their most recent defeat dating back to 2011, when they lost 1-0 to Cameroon.
Morocco, meanwhile, have been impressive in their recent group-stage matches, remaining unbeaten in their last seven (W5 D2).
Kick-off for this exciting encounter is set for 7pm Nigeria time.
