Leicester City ended a lengthy home goal drought with a 2-0 triumph over fellow relegation rivals Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, thanks to strikes from Jamie Vardy and Jordan Ayew.
Vardy, who is set to part ways with Leicester after 13 memorable years, broke the deadlock in the 17th minute by smashing in Bilal El Khannouss’s cross, marking his 199th goal for the Foxes.
Ayew then extended Leicester’s lead just before halftime. After his initial free-kick struck the wall, the ball rebounded kindly to him, and he made no mistake, drilling it beyond Aaron Ramsdale.
The victory, Leicester’s fifth of the campaign, places them 19th in the Premier League with 21 points.
Southampton, rooted to the bottom with 11 points and just three matches remaining, now risk equaling the record for the worst-ever Premier League season.
