The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State, Chief Agboola Ajayi, has pledged to address the issue of insecurity in the state if elected governor.
Ajayi made this commitment during his campaign tour in the Ifedore and Idanre local government areas.
He promised to bolster the state’s security outfit, Amotekun, by implementing comprehensive strategies to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of all citizens in Ondo.
On the topic of education, Ajayi vowed to make primary and secondary education free and to reduce tertiary education fees by 30 percent, aiming to make higher education more accessible and affordable for Ondo State residents.
For agriculture, Ajayi pledged to provide soft loans to farmers and introduce modern preservation techniques to enhance productivity and protect farm produce. According to him, these initiatives “are poised to invigorate the agricultural sector, driving economic growth and sustainability.”
Local monarchs extended their blessings to Ajayi and his running mate, Hon. Festus Akingbaso, as they visited their communities.
The Director-General of the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Council, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, urged voters to accept any inducements offered by opponents but to vote according to their conscience. “Collect money, if offered by APC, and then vote them out of power,” Olafeso stated.
He encouraged Ondo residents to vote with integrity, saying, “The greatest lesson you will teach somebody in power who is corrupt and not doing what is expected is to take what belongs to you and do the right thing. They can’t force you to vote for them after you have taken whatever they wanted to give you that they should have given to you in the first instance.”
On the performance of the Aiyedatiwa administration over the past 10 months, Olafeso remarked, “Aiyedatiwa has shown no significant achievements during his 10 months in office.”
Olafeso, a former PDP Vice Chairman for the South West, asserted that “an Ajayi-led government would prioritize the needs of the people if elected,” and claimed, “the PDP is the only party capable of rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges. What the PDP stood for in the past is the only way Nigeria can go through its myriad of problems.”
He called on the people of Ondo State to rally behind the PDP, saying, “I want the people of Ondo State to join the opposition party, the PDP, against the lacklustre, non-performing government of the APC that has taken eight years out of our lives and rendered us completely hopeless. The people should decide by voting out the APC in Saturday’s election.”
