Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was honoured with a prestigious Special Recognition Award at the 17th Headies Awards ceremony, in acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to the growth of the music industry and the development of Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was among several distinguished individuals celebrated during the event, alongside Alex Okosi and Amaju Pinnick, who were each recognised for their significant achievements within the industry.
Although the governor attended the start of the ceremony, he departed before the award presentation. Senior officials of the Lagos State government later accepted the honour on his behalf.
The Special Recognition Award serves to highlight Governor Sanwo-Olu’s ongoing efforts to promote arts, culture, and the creative industry in Lagos State, underscoring his pivotal role in shaping the city as a thriving hub for entertainment and innovation.
The Headies Awards, a renowned platform that celebrates excellence in the Nigerian music industry, added another meaningful chapter to its history by recognising Governor Sanwo-Olu’s contributions to the sector.
