Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, left many Lagos youths shocked when he mounted the DJ booth to thrill guests at the Lagos Fanti Carnival on Monday.
A viral video on social media showed the DJ Sanwo-Olu ‘scratching’ to Asake’s ‘Fuji Vibe’ and hyping the crowd, earning loud cheers and admiration from young Lagosians.
The event, believed to be one of several youth engagement initiatives championed by the state government, was designed to foster social inclusion, creativity, and community building among the youth.
In the short clip, Governor Sanwo-Olu—dressed casually—was fully immersed in the moment as he showcased his DJ skills alongside popular Disk Jockey, DJ Spinall, with the crowd vibing to his selection.
This is not the first time the governor has taken an unconventional approach to connect with younger constituents. In the past, he has participated in sports, music, and tech gatherings aimed at projecting a relatable and youthful image.
The DJ moment has since sparked wide reactions online, with many praising Sanwo-Olu for his down-to-earth charisma and others calling it a smart public relations move ahead of future political aspirations.
Reacting to the video, @thefashygram berated the governor, writing, “See as dem dey use our lives dey do DJ mix.
“That Sanwo-Olu own no pass to dey attend events. I haven’t seen a single contribution from him since he became governor of Lagos.
“Make we no wake up next election lol.”
In the same vein, @DevonAjala wrote, “To fool Nigerians is so easy… Just pretend like you identify with everything they are doing.”
However, @Ahmed4CFC saw things differently, stating, “Being happy and celebrating with the masses isn’t a crime .. we’re all humans… but at this time of so many irregularities in so many parts of the country.. our leaders need to be more concerned and sensitive to issues affecting the masses.. God Bless Nigeria 🇳🇬”
Complimenting the governor, @estanwachukwu wrote, “Thank you for this. I love @jidesanwoolu he is humble, kind and a good-hearted man.”
In a rather sarcastic remark, @Ooc_Bbnaija wrote, “Term don dey finish …baba just dey gbadun himself these days.”
@Iam_Andersonn also praised the governor’s move, he wrote, “Forget his association with the bad people in government, This man is actually a people’s man 😂”
