The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for sending a letter to the state House of Assembly regarding the Supreme Court’s decision on the state’s political situation.
Wike referred to the letter as “useless,” dismissing it as an ineffective method of communication.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike questioned the governor’s approach, emphasizing that Fubara should have engaged with lawmakers directly rather than through formal correspondence.
“The letter is useless,” Wike said, pointing out that Fubara’s choice of written communication was misguided. He also stressed that Speaker Martins Amaewhule and the members of the Assembly should not be treated as subordinates, asserting their independence.
Wike suggested that Fubara could have handled the matter more effectively by contacting Amaewhule and his team by phone to arrange a face-to-face meeting.
This criticism highlights the growing political tensions in Rivers State, with increasing rifts between Governor Fubara and lawmakers aligned with Wike.
