A Federal High Court, sitting in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory, has ordered the remand of a factional leader of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Chief Edozie Njoku, over forgery.
According to The Nation, the presiding Judge, Justice Mohammed Magudu, passed the verdict over his alleged complicity in the forgery of a judgment of the Supreme Court.
The court also ordered that Njoku and his co-defendant, Chukwuemeka Nwoga be remanded in the Suleja prison in Niger State until November 30 when he would rule on their bail application.
Their attorney, Panam Ntui, argued their bail application shortly after they entered a not guilty plea to a 14-count charge filed by the Inspector General of Police.
The prosecuting attorney, Rimamsomte Ezekiel, opposed the bail request, arguing that the defendants’ alleged crimes are not trivial and that some carry maximum sentences of 14 years in prison if found guilty.
