Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, also known as Odumeje, has declared his intention to contest for the presidency of Nigeria in the 2027 elections.
The controversial pastor called for a shift towards a younger, more digital-minded leadership, criticizing the country’s current leadership as being comprised of “old cargoes.”
According to Naija News, the cleric made this announcement during a sermon on Sunday, and a video of the statement has since gone viral on social media.
However, he did not disclose the political party under which he intends to run.
Addressing his congregation, Odumeje voiced his dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s past and present leaders, attributing the country’s lack of progress to their age and failure to have a clear vision for the nation’s future.
“Both past and present leaders have failed to move Nigeria forward due to their age and lack of vision. The country needs a vibrant, resilient, and forward-thinking leader like me to usher in real progress,” he stated.
The cleric further stressed the importance of youthful, innovative leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to bring about significant change in the country.
“We need a young leader in this country, and I think I am coming out. We need a young leader as a president, a digital leader, not old cargoes. Am I sure you hear me? I think I will come out, I will come out for president,” Odumeje declared.
He then asked his congregation if they were ready for his presidency, promising to introduce modern infrastructure and a digital transformation for the country.
“Are you ready for me? Odumeje for president? Are you ready for me? Because I know what you need. I know what you want. I want to construct a main road called Citadel for you. I want to give you a modern life, a digital life,” he said.
Odumeje’s announcement has sparked excitement among his followers, many of whom have shown support for his presidential bid. However, his declaration has also generated widespread debate on social media, with some Nigerians questioning his political experience while others have praised his boldness in challenging the traditional political establishment.
