Paris Saint-Germain boss, Luis Enrique, has suggested that Arsenal will be dangerous opponents in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, as the Gunners now have “nothing to lose.”
Ousmane Dembélé’s early strike made the difference as PSG claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Mikel Arteta’s side at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
The French champions, who topped a tough group by defeating Manchester City, continued their strong European run by edging past Liverpool in a dramatic penalty shootout in the Round of 16, before dispatching Aston Villa in the quarter-finals.
Reflecting on the win in London, Enrique praised the electric atmosphere but was pleased with his team’s composed display on the night.
“There was an incredible atmosphere inside the stadium—it was deafening—but we got off to a wonderful start, and the early goal gave us a boost of confidence,” he said.
“It is mission accomplished for this evening. But our objective is to win the second leg at home.
“With Arsenal, we cannot let our guard down or be complacent because they can score quickly, and we are back to square one.
“Nothing is in the bag. We need to win when we are at home because Arsenal now have nothing to lose.”
PSG will look to finish the job in Paris next week as they aim to reach the final of Europe’s elite competition.
