Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, recently shared his personal testimony during a thanksgiving service at the Faith Hill Prophetic Assembly in Piwoyi, Abuja.
The event, which took place on Sunday, was attended by the church’s Archbishop Emmanuel Jatau, bishops, pastors, and congregants.
Fani-Kayode expressed his gratitude on his X handle, stating, “It was an honor and privilege for me to share my testimony at my Thanksgiving Service which held at the Faith Hill Prophetic Assembly in Piwoyi, Abuja yesterday. I thank Archbishop Emmanuel Jatau, his Bishops and Pastors and his wonderful congregation for receiving my team and I so warmly and for showing us such love and kindness. It was a very powerful and inspiring service. Glory be to God.”
The service was marked by fervent worship and moments of reflection, as Fani-Kayode recounted his personal journey and experiences. The congregation responded with enthusiasm, and images from the event have been widely shared on social media platforms.
Fani-Kayode’s appearance in a religious setting comes amidst a backdrop of his complex and often controversial public life. Known for his outspoken political views, he has been a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, serving as Minister of Aviation and holding various positions within major political parties.
His political journey has seen significant shifts, including a notable return to the All Progressives Congress in 2021, after previously being a vocal critic of the party and President Muhammadu Buhari.
Explaining his decision at the time, he stated, “I spoke against Buhari from the outside, now I know him from the inside. I am not saying he is an angel or a demon. The APC I was talking about that time is not the same today. Let’s focus on unity, peace, and togetherness.”
Beyond politics, Fani-Kayode’s personal life has also attracted public attention. His marriage to Precious Chikwendu, a former beauty queen, ended tumultuously, with allegations of domestic abuse surfacing. In October 2020, a video emerged purportedly showing a heated exchange between the couple.
Fani-Kayode denied any physical abuse, asserting, “There was NO physical abuse. I simply took the phone from her to stop her from recording me after catching her in bed with a married man days earlier.”
Chikwendu, however, provided a different account, alleging that she endured sustained physical and emotional abuse during their relationship, including incidents during her pregnancies. She claimed, “I was incarcerated at a hospital for a period of two weeks. I was separated from my six-month-old triplets and a year-old son at the time.”
These personal controversies have been juxtaposed against Fani-Kayode’s public declarations of faith and participation in religious activities. His recent testimony at the Faith Hill Prophetic Assembly underscores the multifaceted nature of his public persona, blending political engagement, personal tribulations, and spiritual reflections.
The thanksgiving service has sparked discussions among Nigerians, with opinions divided on reconciling his political and personal controversies with his religious expressions.
