The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has approved a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the country, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening the Corps’ leadership structure.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the redeployments affected three Deputy Corps Marshals, two Assistant Corps Marshals, and 24 Corps Commanders.
Ogungbemide explained that the move is intended to “boost performance and reinforce the Corps’ commitment to ensuring safer roads across Nigeria.”
Among those redeployed is Deputy Corps Marshal Aliyu Datsama, formerly the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Special Duties and External Relations, who will now oversee the Department of Motor Vehicle Administration. Deputy Corps Marshal Pauline Olaye, who previously headed the Project Implementation Office, has been appointed to take over the Special Duties and External Relations Department.
Additionally, Deputy Corps Marshal Ahmed Hassan will continue to serve in his current capacity as head of the Technical Services Department at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
The Corps Marshal also approved the redeployment of Assistant Corps Marshal Godwin Omiko, who moves from Motor Vehicle Administration to lead the Project Implementation Office. Similarly, Assistant Corps Marshal Emmanuel Dung, previously with the Corps Safety Engineering Office, will now head the Motor Vehicle Administration Department.
Furthermore, the statement noted changes at the state level, with new Sector Commanders appointed for Ekiti, Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Kogi, Bayelsa, Taraba, Jigawa, Osun, Imo, and Zamfara states.
In a historic development, Corps Commander Ann Odeleye has been named Acting Zonal Commanding Officer of RS Zone 2 Lagos, covering Lagos and Ogun states, making her the first woman to hold such a position in the history of the Corps.
Speaking on the redeployments, Mohammed expressed confidence in the newly appointed officers. “I trust in your leadership capabilities and urge you to apply your wealth of experience and professionalism to advance the Corps’ road safety mandate,” he said.
He further directed all affected officers to assume their new posts immediately, adding that the redeployments were necessary to align with the Corps’ operational goals.
The statement emphasized that the postings take “immediate effect.”
