The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended eight individuals in connection with the abduction and gruesome murder of a six-year-old boy, Muhammad Bulama, for ritual purposes in Bura-Bunga village, Kwami Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the arrests, the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, said the suspects include two native doctors identified as Idris Dayyabu and Abdulrauf Hussaini, who allegedly demanded human body parts for a money ritual.
Other suspects were named as Magaji Adamu, Babayo Musa, Jibrin Muhammad (popularly known as Ya’Haji), Usman Khalla, Sadam Umaru, and Isiyaku Muhammad.
According to the police, the young boy was abducted from his grandfather’s home and later killed in the bush by one of the suspects. “Magaji Adamu admitted that he received the boy from Babayo Musa and slaughtered him with a knife in a remote area in Wuro-Doya,” Abdullahi stated. “He then cut the body into two and disposed of the upper part in a well.”
The investigation also revealed that the lower half of the child’s body was delivered to two other suspects, Jibrin Muhammad and Usman Abubakar, who were arrested in Gombe metropolis. Police said the body part was handed to them by Adamu and another suspect, Gimba, who remains at large.
Further revelations showed that another suspect, Umaru, played a critical role by linking the group to a native doctor and facilitating the supply of human parts.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplice,” Abdullahi added.
