The recently sworn-in governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno enjoins all to expect both old and new political officeholders to make up his cabinet.
Pastor Eno made his intention known at the government house banquet hall on Friday.
The governor, while hosting his maiden Government House Covenant Service with the theme, “The God of New Beginnings,” explained that the wisdom and experience of the old political officeholders are also needed to run the state effectively.
According to a report by Daily Post, his appointment will cut across people who are experienced in governance and had gone with him to the trenches having worked for the emergence of his administration.
He said, “I will work with everyone else to set up a new agenda, we like to bring in a little tweak, like I keep saying, don’t expect that kind of miracle that you don’t want to see old faces again it should be new faces, it won’t work like that.
“We need the wisdom of the old to navigate the new and so you’ll see a mixed grill of the new and the old.”
He added that he would reward those who had been with him in the trenches over those with “CVs”.
“I won’t leave people who were with me through thick and thin for those who have CVs, but you will see the old, you will see the new faces, but most importantly you will see those that were with us in the trenches maybe this is a platform to say that the appointment of Personal Assistants will come as a reward,” he explained.
