A random concerned citizen on Saturday took to the streets of Surulere in Lagos state to sensitize and call out voters to come out and perform their constitutional franchise.
The yet-to-be identified man, was seen with a bell, ringing it and calling out voters in an online video.
Speaking in Yoruba, he yelled, “Voting, voting, voting, come out and vote, they (electoral officials) are there waiting for you, come out! Come out and vote! Those of you sleeping, wake up and come out to vote! Come out!”
The election being held in Surulere on Saturday, February 3, 2024 is a bye-election for the Surulere Federal Constituency I seat in the Federal House of Representatives.
The seat became vacant after President Bola Tinubu appointed Femi Gbajabiamila, the immediate-past speaker of the house, as his chief of staff.
Twelve candidates from different political parties are jostling to occupy the seat. No fewer than 121,111 voters are expected to participate in the bye-election.
