The United States on Thursday, August 24, congratulated Ukraine as it marked its independence day.
Ukraine got its independence from military rule and embraced democracy on August 24, 1991.
In a statement issued via its X handle on Thursday, the US Department of State, hailed the currently embattled European country for its resilience in its long-term battle with Russia.
It also expressed the US commitment to support Ukraine through these times in achieving a brighter future. It then wrote a statement in the Ukrainian language, “Slavia Ukraini”, which is interpreted to mean “Glory to Ukraine” in English language.
The statement read, “On Ukraine’s Independence Day, the United States remains committed to helping Ukraine achieve a brighter future that is determined by their people, not Russia. Slava Ukraini!”
