The semi-final matches for the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League will be fully confirmed by tonight, Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Two teams have already booked their spots in the last four: Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
PSG qualified for the semi-finals despite losing 3-2 to Aston Villa in the second leg at Villa Park. The French champions had a 3-1 lead from the first leg, which proved enough to secure their spot in the next round. Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes gave PSG an early 2-0 lead, but Aston Villa fought back with three goals. However, it was not enough to change the outcome, as PSG advanced with a 5-4 score on aggregate.
Barcelona also made it through to the semi-finals, even though they lost 3-1 away to Borussia Dortmund. The Spanish side had a strong 4-0 advantage from the first leg in Spain, which Dortmund couldn’t overturn. Serhou Guirassy scored all three goals for Dortmund, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
The semi-final pairings will now be determined by the remaining quarter-final matches. PSG will wait to face the winner of the tie between Real Madrid and Arsenal, with Arsenal holding a 3-0 advantage heading into the second leg in Spain. Barcelona will face either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich, with Inter holding a 2-1 lead after their first-leg clash in Germany.
The final two quarter-final matches will be played tonight, and the full semi-final pairings will be confirmed afterwards.
