The Election Presidential Tribunal’s justices arrived at the court about 9:27 a.m. to give judgement on three petitions seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.
The tribunal’s Chairman, Justice Haruna Tsammani, will deliver the decision on Wednesday, assisted by other members of the panel: Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.
The petitions, with the filing numbers CA/PEPC/03/2023, CA/PEPC/05/2023, and CA/PEPC/04/2023, were submitted to the court by Mr. Peter Obi, candidate for the Labour Party; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former vice president and candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party; and the Allied Peoples Movement, respectively.
On March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission reported that Tinubu, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, had defeated 17 other contenders in the February 25 presidential election.
It reported that Tinubu scored a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat the two major competitors, Alhaji Atiku of the PDP, who finished second with a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Mr. Obi of the LP, who came third with a total of 6,101,533 votes.
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, both Atiku and Obi moved the court to annul it.
