The US president, Joe Biden, threatens to revoke his commitment of working with China for the advancement of America’s interest if China threatens its sovereignty.
According to Punch, Biden said this while delivering an annual speech to assembled lawmakers, reiterating that he would not hesitate to defend United State interests against China after he ordered the downing of a suspected surveillance balloon.
“I’m committed to working with China where it can advance American interests and benefit the world.
“But make no mistake about it — as we made clear last week, if China threatens our sovereignty, we will act to protect our country. And we did,” Biden said.
It could be recalled that Biden had met with Chinese president, Xi Jinping, in November and told him that he was looking forward to competition and not conflict, hence he was heard assuring that “winning the competition” with China should unite Americans.
“I will make no apologies that we are investing to make America stronger — investing in American innovation, in industries that will define the future that China intends to be dominating,” Biden added.
