The London and Paris Club consultants refund committee said the Nigeria Governors Forum took the sum of $100 million for elections purposes in their states.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the consultants led by Senator Ned Nwoko made this disclosure at Abuja in a press conference on Saturday.
They alleged that when they submitted a bill of $350 million as the consultancy fee, the state governors, the state governors asked to be paid 50 per cent before it could be honoured.
Senator Nwoko said the former chairman of the forum had briefed him that the money was needed by the state governors to prosecute elections in Bauchi, Ekiti and Ondo states.
He further explained that the intervention of the Ministry of Justice finally made the governors accept the sum of $100 million.
However, the consultants disclosed that the money owed to the forum was $68 million and not $418 million being peddled in public.
He said the consultants said they have nothing to do with any $418 million, which he informed might have been some miscalculation.
Nwoko exonerated the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami of any wrong, adding that he was only ensuring that the law was obeyed.
He also revealed that the agreements and judgement being enforced were reached before the advent of the present administration.
The Lead Consultants also accused the current chairman of the NGF and Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, of telling a litany of lies over the payment to the consultants.
