An aspirant for the governorship position under the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Wale Akinterinwa, has stated that he will comply with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s invitation on Thursday.
Akinterinwa, who contested alongside 15 others for the party’s governorship ticket last Saturday, was summoned by the EFCC regarding allegations of financial misappropriation.
Earlier reports suggested that the EFCC was investigating Akinterinwa for allegedly mishandling billions of naira during his tenure as the Commissioner for Finance under the administration of the late Rotimi Akeredolu.
It was reported that he had been invited by the EFCC weeks ago to address certain allegations but claimed to be “too busy” to respond to the invitation.
However, in a post on his verified social media handle on Thursday, he stated, “Today, I will be honoring the invitation from the EFCC to shed more light on some issues that the commission wants clarification on.
“I have confidence in the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is done.”
