The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission has officially announced a bye-election for the position of Councillor in Ilado, Ward 10, Odogbolu Local Government Area.
According to The PUNCH, the election is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
This announcement was made by the Chairman of OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Odogbolu LGA.
The meeting brought together representatives from various political parties, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
The bye-election has become necessary following the passing of the former councillor, Olufemi Taiwo.
During the meeting, Mr. Osibodu, represented by Gbemi Onasanya, reiterated OGSIEC’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, free, and credible electoral process.
He urged all political parties and stakeholders to maintain a level playing field throughout the election.
The timetable for the bye-election is set to run from Thursday, September 28, to Thursday, October 26, 2023.
