The All Progressive Congress Chairman of Niger State, Zakari Jikantoro, has resigned.
Jikantoro declared his resignation during a press address on Friday in the state.
While the reason for his resignation is yet unknown, he, however, stated that it was voluntary.
He said, “I feel it is important and compulsory for me to call an emergency meeting to brief the state executive as well of the resolutions of what transpired yesterday (Thursday, August 3) at the NEC meeting, that’s one, which I did.
“Secondly, on my own, humbly and voluntarily, wish to resign my position as the chairman of the party in APC in Niger State.”
Recall that, the APC held its National Executive Council meeting on Thursday, August 3 in Abuja, with the President, Bola Tinubu, present at the meeting, as well as other party dignitaries.
Part of the essence of the meeting was to fill the vacant offices in the party, of which, Abdullahi Ganduje was elected the national Chairman and Ajibola Basiru was elected as the national Secretary.
