Popular Nollywood screen diva Kate Henshaw has condemned the continuous hardship that Nigerians are experiencing due to a lack of money.
The renowned actress used her verified Instagram account to describe how she had been cheated out of her money in banks. She went on to describe how 3 of the banks she visited today claimed they were out of money.
Kate took criticized President Muhammadu Buhari and Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, for their negligence in causing this misery for Nigerians.
The actress also said that the CBN has been misleading the public about how much it puts each day into commercial banks because there’s always never enough money.
Clearly enraged, she captioned the video, “I am utterly offended and livid!” Nigerians have been fed lies and concocted tales by the @centralbankng, who also blames them when they are complicit. Why was there such a hurry to exchange old notes? Why not confront them and cease imposing suffering on us if you have particular individuals inside your own ranks who you wish to punish?
“One cannot access their money even with the daily or monthly limits. There is no doubt that @centralbankng is to blame for the decline in public confidence in banks. Such a callous policy, poorly thought out. After taking pictures of the new notes, some of which have color bleeds and are highly uneven, you made the decision to store them away. Despicable!!”
According to various reports, the Naira redesign and the implementation of a cashless policy ordered by the CBN have put many Nigerians in a tough situation, making this moment particularly unpleasant for most Nigerians.
The Central Bank of Nigeria said that their goal was to facilitate cashless commerce through the use of internet transfers, point-of-sale terminals, and USSD rather than to deprive Nigerians of the new Naira notes.
