Ahead of the 2023 Presidential election, the Labour Party has inaugurated an 800-member state presidential campaign committee with the responsibility of ensuring victory for its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to The PUNCH, committee is chaired by Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike as the
state coordinator, while former Commissioner for Lands in the state, Mr Okolo Akirika, will serve as the secretary.
Uzodike, who spoke at the Wednesday ceremony in Awka, said that the LP was an earnest attempt to pull Nigeria out of its current predicament.
He warned that the party would not hesitate to remove any member found wanting in his assigned duty or office and he charged the members to work together to ensure the party got a resounding victory at the presidential poll.
He said, “This is the committee by the LP presidential candidate. These are those who will work for our presidential candidate. The Presidential campaign is different from other campaigns and that is why all our candidates are members of the committee.
“We also thank Nigerians for finding Peter Obi worthy to contest the presidential election. Nigerians don’t need to verify anymore because all the facts have been verified. This LP is now a serious minded project and we are out to take back Nigeria for Nigerians.”
Earlier, the South East Zonal Coordinator of the Obi/Datti presidential campaign committee, Damian Okeke-Ogene, urged the committee to produce results that would persuade Nigerians that Obi was truly from Anambra State.
