A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, said that the result of the recently concluded local government poll in Oyo reflected the will of the people in the state.
Gbolarumi made the remark during an interview with the Nigerian Tribune.
He alleged that no voter in Oyo would vote for any other party in the state besides the PDP.
He mocked opposition party officials, wondering what benefits they had received, instead of aligning with the PDP in the state.
He reiterated that it was not possible for the All Progressives Congress to gain the trust of the people in Oyo based on the performance of the PDP in the state.
In his words, “The results reflected the will of the people. I don’t think anybody would even vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party that is anti-people.
“During the election, I went to my polling booth and saw a representative of the APC, and I asked him what he had benefited from the party. He was just laughing; he looked haggard, and I’m sure he had never benefited from the party, so I wonder why he was supporting the party.
“I asked about his educational background, and he said he is a graduate. I asked him where he was working, and he said he was jobless, so I told him to join the PDP for better opportunities. So, that election reflected the will of the people of the state.
“The truth is that it is not possible for people to vote for the APC, going by the performance of the PDP in the state. Also, look at what the APC has turned the country into.”
