The All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party that Governor Nasir Idris fails to hand over power to his deputy when traveling.
APC’s state image maker, Alhaji Isah Assalafy, described the claims as “dead on arrival” and lacking constitutional proof.
Assalafy cited sections 190(1) and (2) of the 1999 constitution, which mandate the governor to exercise executive powers personally, and section 193(1), which allows delegation of powers to the deputy or commissioners at the governor’s discretion, according to Independent.
He emphasized the harmonious relationship between the governor and deputy governor, Umar Tafida, with no instances of marginalization.
Assalafy urged the PDP to cease baseless attacks and instead engage in constructive criticism.
The PDP had demanded that Governor Idris hand over power to his deputy during his upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, but the APC has dismissed this as unfounded and misinformed.
It is gratifying to note that, the dou in one year have enjoyed frank, cordial and just relationship as there was no one time when the deputy governor, Umar Tafida had cause to complaint of being marginalised by the governor” let me use this medium to admonish the opposition PDP to desist from faceless media attack on Kebbi governor, Dr Nasir Idris, even as the party listens to reasonable and constructive criticism.
Recall that, the opposition peoples democratic party PDP, Kebbi state, had asked the governor to relinquish power to his deputy since he is among Muslims faithful that would perform hajj 2024 at the holy land of Mecca.
