Four suspects have been apprehended by the Anambra State Police Command for crimes including attempted kidnapping, cyberstalking, and other offenses in Ihiala Local Government Area.
The arrests, which took place on Thursday, followed an in-depth investigation carried out by the Joint Security Force operating in the Ihiala region.
According to a press statement released on Friday by the police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was initiated based on consistent intelligence reports regarding threats posed by unknown criminals.
Ikenga explained that these faceless individuals had been issuing threats of abduction, violence, and engaging in cyberstalking, particularly targeting innocent residents of Ihiala.
He emphasized that such criminal activities posed serious risks to the peace and safety of the state.
“The Anambra State Police Command notes the improved security stability in Ihiala and appreciates the good people of Ihiala for their cooperation and resilience in identifying the bad elements in the area,” Ikenga said.
“This is following a painstaking investigation by the joint security force in Ihiala acting on information received over time of faceless individuals/criminals threatening kidnapping/abduction, violence and cyberstalking to innocent individuals in the state, especially in Ihiala,” he added.
Ikenga further revealed that the arrests occurred on April 10, 2025, at exactly 2:53 p.m., and the suspects were identified as Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor, and Nzube Azubuike — all male residents of Okohia, Ihiala.
“The operatives recovered phones and SIM cards used by the suspects to threaten their victims, thereby causing panic in the area and jeopardising the efforts of the security agencies and the general security of the State. Meanwhile, all the suspects confessed to the crime and were taken into custody for further interrogations,” he stated.
The police command reiterated its unwavering dedication to safeguarding the public and ensuring that perpetrators of actions that spread fear or threaten societal peace face justice.
