Former Super Eagles head coach, Christian Chukwu, has passed away at the age of 74.
The revered football icon died earlier on Saturday, though specific details about the circumstances of his death are still unknown at the time of this report.
Back in 2021, Chukwu was at the center of widespread death rumors, which he strongly debunked during his 70th birthday on January 4 of that year.
Reacting to the false claims, Chukwu stated, “I am terribly embarrassed with this news that I am dead. Several people have been calling me from across the world since the news broke. I am still investigating the source of the story.”
Fondly referred to as “Chairman,” Chukwu was a towering figure in Nigerian football, celebrated both for his achievements on the field as a player and on the sidelines as a coach. His influence on the sport in Nigeria is indelible.
More information will be shared as it becomes available.
