The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled a detailed nine-step procedure to guide motorists in registering and applying for a tinted glass permit through its official digital platform, as part of ongoing efforts to improve public access to police services.
According to the instructions, applicants are to visit the Police Specialised Services Automation Project portal at www.possap.gov.ng, where they must sign up using their National Identification Number, Bank Verification Number, or Tax Identification Number.
After successfully completing the registration form with accurate personal information, users are required to create an account and verify it via a code sent to their email. Once verified, they can log in using their email and password to proceed with the application process.
Next, applicants are expected to select the “Tinted Glass Permit” service, enter their vehicle details, and upload all relevant supporting documents. After thoroughly reviewing and confirming the accuracy of the submitted information, they must then make the necessary payment.
The final stage of the application involves scheduling a vehicle inspection and biometric capture at a chosen Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department location, which marks the completion of the permit application process.
This digitised process, the police said, reflects its renewed focus on transparency, operational efficiency, and ease of service delivery to the public.
The release of this comprehensive guide follows a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who ordered the resumption of the issuance of tinted glass permits across Nigeria.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who stated that the move was aimed at addressing public outcry.
According to Adejobi, the resumption of permit issuance comes in response to “rising concerns and complaints from the public over the harassment of vehicle owners by law enforcement agents for using factory-fitted tinted windows.”
