The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has slammed the former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, with fresh charges.
The anti-graft agency is set to arraign the ex-Aviation Minister on Tuesday on fresh charges of fraudulent contract awards worth billions of naira.
This comes less than a week after Sirika was arraigned alongside his daughter and son-in-law on charges of abuse of office in awarding contracts.
Sirika, who served as aviation minister during President Muhammadu Buhari’s two terms, is accused of abusing his office by awarding contracts to a company with ties to his daughter and son-in-law.
He pleaded not guilty to all six counts before a judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.
The EFCC will arraign Sirika before another judge of the FCT High Court in Garki, Abuja, on Tuesday.
He is charged alongside his brother, Ahmad Abubakar, and Abubakar’s firm, Enginos Nigeria Limited, which allegedly received the contracts worth N14 billion, according to Premium Times.
The EFCC hinted that Sirika used his position to confer an unfair advantage upon Enginos Nigeria Limited, awarding contracts for the construction of a terminal building at Katsina Airport for about N1.3 billion and the establishment of a fire truck maintenance and refurbishment center at Katsina Airport worth N3.8 billion.
These actions violated the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the ICPC Act.
