Veteran statesman and business leader, Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has pledged ₦1.5 billion to support victims of the recent catastrophic flood in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
On Tuesday, Dantata, accompanied by a delegation from Kano, made the donation at Government House, Maiduguri.
During his visit, Dantata offered his heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum, the state government, and those affected by the disaster, particularly those who have lost family members, according to NaijaNews.
He emphasized the nation’s economic struggles and urged elites and political leaders to act with integrity and consider their responsibilities seriously.
He also prayed for peace and unity within Borno State and throughout Nigeria.
Governor Zulum expressed deep gratitude for Dantata’s generosity, noting that the donation represents a crucial beacon of hope and solidarity in these challenging times.
“The people of Borno are deeply thankful for this act of kindness from a 96-year-old. Our Baba’s donation of ₦1.5 billion to aid flood victims is a testament to his compassion. May Allah bless and reward him with Aljannah. We are truly grateful, Baba,” Zulum said.
This contribution follows a similar act of generosity from Dantata’s nephew, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who has also donated ₦1 billion to support those affected by the floods.
