Governor Babagana Zulum has appointed Aminu Chamalwa as the Director-General of the Borno State Mining Agency.
according to a statement from the state’s information commissioner, Usman Tar, Chamalwa, a seasoned geologist with over 35 years of experience in the civil service, is expected to bring his expertise to the role and reposition the mining sector in Borno.
The state is rich in minerals, including feldspar, limestone, and uranium.
The appointment is effective immediately, and Governor Zulum has urged Chamalwa to justify the confidence placed in him and work tirelessly to develop the mining sector, according to Peoples Gazette.
Chamalwa, a native of Biu Local Government Area, has previously served in various roles, including Deputy Director (Hydrology) and Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Borno Ministry of Water Resources.
With his extensive experience and qualifications, Chamalwa is well-equipped to lead the Borno State Mining Agency and unlock the state’s mining potential.
“The governor urged the newly appointed DG to justify the confidence reposed in him and work assiduously to reposition the mining sector in Born,” Mr Tar said.
