The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Benjamin Omale, has announced the formation of a reconciliation committee tasked with visiting the 23 Local Government Areas across the state to engage and pacify members who may feel aggrieved.
Omale assured that the leadership is committed to fostering unity within the party, with a focus on creating a harmonious environment where all members feel united as a family.
“Already, a reconciliation committee has been constituted to tour the 23 LGAs of the state to enable us achieve the mandate of reconciling all aggrieved parties. And I can assure you that before the expiration of our term, this will be achieved,” he said, emphasizing the committee’s objective of ensuring peace in the party before their mandate expires.
He shared this during a weekend meeting at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi, where he hosted the Caretaker leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Benue State Council, led by Chairman Vincent Nyinongu.
The Chairman reiterated the committee’s six-month mandate to restore peace within the party and highlighted that they are making concerted efforts to implement measures that would unite members and resolve conflicts.
Omale appealed for a collaborative relationship with the media, urging journalists to adhere to professionalism and ensure their reports are accurate.
He also commended Governor Hyacinth Alia, saying, “for the good works he is doing in the state because under him the state has witnessed transformative growth in the various sectors of the state.”
He further encouraged journalists to focus on developmental journalism by highlighting the Governor’s achievements.
Adding to this, the Committee’s Secretary, Prof. Bem Angwe, made an impassioned plea to aggrieved members, urging them to set aside differences and promising that the committee is fully committed to restoring peace.
He also warned party members against instigating crises and advised those involved to stop actions that could destabilize the party.
During the meeting, NUJ Chairman Vincent Nyinongu explained that the purpose of their visit was to establish a relationship between the NUJ leadership and the APC leadership in the state and to inform the party about the upcoming delegates election for the NUJ.
