Bayern Munich cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over struggling Heidenheim on Saturday, edging closer to clinching their 34th Bundesliga title.
The win propelled Bayern to 72 points at the summit of the table, opening up a nine-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen, who face St. Pauli on Sunday, with just four matches left in the season.
The reigning champions wasted no time asserting dominance, storming to a 3-0 advantage within the opening 36 minutes.
Harry Kane’s precision, Konrad Laimer’s powerful finish, and Kingsley Coman’s flair ensured Bayern were well in control early on.
Kane nearly grabbed a brace in the 22nd minute as Bayern continued to bombard the Heidenheim defense. However, the league’s top scorer narrowly missed the target with a close-range header, sparing the hosts further punishment.
Joshua Kimmich later capped the rout with a clinical strike in the 56th minute. Kimmich then took his time before rifling a shot into the corner for 4-0 in the 56th minute as Bayern surged ahead at full throttle in its relentless pursuit of another league crown.
Heidenheim showed some late fight, hoping to find a consolation goal. Their best chance came just after the hour when Sirlord Conteh was denied by an alert Jonas Urbig, who got down swiftly to keep his clean sheet intact.
But Bayern keeper Jonas Urbig was sharp and alert, diving low to deny Sirlord Conteh with a smart save.
The defeat leaves Heidenheim in a precarious position, third from bottom and occupying the relegation play-off spot with just 22 points, seven adrift of safety currently held by St. Pauli.
Bayern’s title charge continues with a home clash against Mainz next Saturday, followed by fixtures against RB Leipzig, Borussia Moenchengladbach, and a final-day showdown at Hoffenheim on May 17.
