The All Progressive Congress on Saturday congratulated H.E. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on the ocassion of his 84th birthday.
APC sent its congratulatory remark to the the party chieftain, who is the pioneer national Chairman of the party, in a statement via its X handle.
The party sent prayers to the elder statesman, for good health and wisdom as he continues his service to the nation.
The statement read, “Happy 84th birthday to our former National Chairman, H.E. Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Our great Party prays for Chief Oyegun, good health and wisdom in continuous service to our dear country and Party.”
Oyegun was born August 12, 1939. He is a Nigerian politician who served as the first national chairman of the APC. He was also the Executive Governor of Edo State between 1992 and 1993, during the aborted Nigerian Third Republic.
He led then opposition APC and former President, Major General Muhammad Buhari (retd.), to victory in 2015 after defeating ruling PDP and former President Goodluck Jonathan. It was the first time an incumbent president and a ruling party was defeated in a presidential poll in Nigeria.
