The Labour Party chairmanship candidate for Guyuk Local Government Council, Gandume Gamaliel, has petitioned the Adamawa State Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal to nullify the election of Kassa Dangi Shallom of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Gamaliel alleges that Shallom presented a forged West African Examination Council certificate to the election screening committee.
He added that same was used to participate in the July 13, 2024, election, according to Daily Post.
He claims that the screening committee failed to disqualify Shallom despite the alleged forgery, and the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission declared Shallom the winner.
Gamaliel argues that he and the ADC candidate were the only lawful contestants and seeks an order for ADSIEC to withdraw Shallom’s certificate of return and declare him the winner, being the candidate with the second-highest votes.
