The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that nineteen political parties are participating in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo state.
The states Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, said that the political parties have notified the commission.
Babalola, while speaking during a meeting with the representatives of political parties in Akure, the state capital, said that the parties have notified the commission about the conduct of their primaries for the governorship election.
The political parties, according to her, include the ruling All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, African Democratic Party, and All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Others are Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, National Rescue Movement, People’s Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party, Youth Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
The commissioner said that the commission has received notification from the political parties for the conduct of the governorship scheduled from April 6th to 27th.
Babalola pointed out that the meeting was an opportunity to engage with political parties on the upcoming party primaries, adding that the role of political parties in ensuring the success and integrity of the process cannot be overemphasized. She urged all parties to adhere
