The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed Bashir Machina as the All Progressives Congress candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District.
Bashir and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, had been at loggerhead for the ruling party’s ticket for the district.
But the court, on Monday, in Abuja, upheld the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State, which held that Lawan was not the APC candidate for the senatorial district.
In her ruling, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensen, who presided over a three-man panel, uphold Machina’s candidacy in an appeal by Lawan challenging the decision of Justice Fadimatu Aminu of the Federal High Court Damaturu,
Justice Aminu had on on September 28, 2022, declared Machina as the winner of the APC primary election which held in May 2022.
