A report has emerged on why the Kano State ministerial nominee, Mariam Shetty suffered the fate of name replacement on the second batch of the ministerial nominees’ list, sent to the Senate on Wednesday, by President Bola Tinubu.
Premium Politics reported on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, that the name of Shetty was included in the second list of 19 nominees list, sent to the Senate for screening on Friday.
Shetty on her reaction to the development, was also seen in a viral video on the Internet, expressing appreciation to God and President Tinubu, for the gestures bestowed on her, but the joy was short-lived when she got to the Senate for screening on Friday, and she got to know that her name had been replaced with another candidate from Kano State, Mariya Mahmoud, who happened to be her long time school mate.
However, the report has revealed that Mariam suffered the fate of disappointment because she has been allegedly antagonizing the immediate former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, who is now the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and a close ally of the President.
According to a Daily Trust report on Saturday, August 5, 2023, associates of Ganduje revealed that Shetty’s name was replaced with that of her classmate because she was not in Ganduje’s camp, and she had been vocal against some of the former governor’s policies in the past.
One of Shetty’s associates who also spoke on a condition of anonymity on the development, said: “A reason is that she is close with former Emir Muhammadu Sanusi and she was very vocal against his removal.
“You know she is very popular on social media, where she champions several causes, including women’s rights.”
Similarly, many regarded Shetty as a mere Tik Toker due to her massive followership across several social media platforms, where she champions several causes.
