The Founder of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, has expressed hope in the ability of the party, to retain its governorship seat in Kano State.
Disclosing this in a statement in Lagos on Sunday, Aniebonam noted that a party with God’s mandate would neither lose in the Appeal nor at the Supreme Court.
According to him, the judgement of the state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and installed his opponent from the All Progressives Congress, Nasir Gawuna as the Governor, was just a man-made ruling which did not reflect the will of God.
“There is no doubt that what NNPP as a political party and its candidate got in Kano State Election Tribunal was a judgment of the mortal being rather than justice of the living God.
“He with God is with all and therefore we should all continue to keep the peace of the society awaiting God’s intervention at the Appeal Court and or the Supreme Court,” he said.
The NNPP founder stated that the APC governorship candidate had already congratulated Governor Yusuf, immediately after the election result was announced, noting that he didn’t go to challenge the results at the tribunal.
However, Aniebonam noted that therefore, so shall it be at the Appeal Court where justice shall be served to NNPP in the name of God and humanity.
He stated that regrettably, the tribunal may have decided to assume Father Christmas to the candidate of the APC, who did not approach the court for whatever reason.
He added that he was aware that some Kano state indigenes were not satisfied with the hasty demolition of some building structures in Kano City.
According to him, the good news was that the matter was being resolved amicably and even through a court process, noting that this is very encouraging in a democracy where the rule of law is in the driver’s seat.
While reacting to the issue of internal wrangling in the party, the former chairman Board of the Trustees of the NNPP, said the party would come out stronger.
He however assured that he will make further statements in due time, and thereafter, due consultation with the leader of the party, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying the development is helping them ahead of 2027 on time.
He also added that it was important to inform that Kwankwasiya members were peaceful and law-abiding political pressure groups, with a clear ideology of greater welfare for the greater numbers.
The party founder however prayed that God bless everyone in Nigeria, while also congratulating President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the election tribunal.
