A Former Secretary General of Arewa Consultative Forum, Mr. Anthony Sani has stated why the group does not endorse involve itself in partisan politics.
According to The Sun, Sani in an interview with Noah Ebije in Kaduna stated that the group is non partisan because it seeks to secure the unity of the group as its members are drawn from various political parties.
“ACF does not endorse candidates because the platform consists of northerners with different political stripes and political parties. Any endorsement of candidate by ACF is therefore a deviation from the main, which can affect the unity of the platform.” he said.
It would be recalled that its counterpart, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere recently adopted the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate, a move which created further division in the group as a faction of the group had already adopted Peter Obi of the Labour Party as its presidential candidate.
