United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a press release issued Thursday morning.
The release read, “President Tinubu extended the invitation during their bilateral talks on Wednesday night on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.
“President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday as a guest of the UAE President to participate in the Sustainability Week, a forum aimed at fostering global sustainable development and addressing challenges like climate change, water, and energy crises.
“He presented Nigeria’s stance on climate issues earlier that Wednesday and commended the UAE President for hosting a successful event.
“Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed gratitude to the Nigerian leader for accepting his invitation and affirmed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation with Nigeria.
“The leaders also discussed strategies to attract investments into Nigeria.
“President Tinubu highlighted the positive outcomes of his government’s economic reforms and urged the UAE to collaborate on further economic development.
“He noted that these reforms had stabilized and expanded Nigeria’s economy, attracting significant investments including from international oil companies, which signaled renewed confidence in conducting business with Africa’s most populous nation.
“President Tinubu conveyed his appreciation to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation since their arrival over the weekend.
“Accompanying President Tinubu to the meeting at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi were Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
“Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan accompanied the UAE President.
“Also present from the UAE side were Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; and Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Nigeria.”
