Flying Eagles’ midfielder, Auwal Ibrahim, emerged as the Man of the Match in Nigeria’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Tunisia at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The record seven-time champions kicked off their Group B campaign on a positive note, edging past the Young Carthage Eagles thanks to a crucial first-half goal.
Ibrahim found the back of the net just seven minutes before the break, sealing the only goal of the encounter and securing all three points for Nigeria.
Remarkably, the talented midfielder was handed a starting berth despite not featuring during last year’s WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lomé, Togo.
He made the most of his opportunity before being replaced by Olalekan Alabi in stoppage time.
Up next, the Flying Eagles will take on Morocco in their second group game on Sunday, at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo.
