Two people have been injured in an attack on the convoy of the House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Lagos Mainland Constituency, Segun Gbayi.
The gunmen attacked the convoy in the Makoko area, Yaba, Lagos State, on Thursday, as well as the security escorts attached to the convoy.
While, Gbayi narrowly escaped the attack unhurt, the vehicles were reportedly vandalized.
Gbayi, who, afterwards said, the attack was to prevent supporters of the party from exercising their electoral franchise in tomorrow’s election.
“This attack was violently carried out to discourage us from exercising our political franchise,” he said.
He, therefore, advised voters and the general public to remain safe during this period and report any case of threat to lives, vandalisation, or violent attack to the appropriate security officers.
