The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ikeja Lagos has begun the delivery of judgment in the petition filed by the Governorship candidates of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.
Premium Politics had earlier reported that the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Babafemi Hamzat, was present at the court, to witness the proceedings.
Rhodes-Vivour and Adeniran, have both filed their petitions before the tribunal, challenging the victory of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, at the March 18 governorship election in Lagos State.
However, a member of the tribunal’s 3-member panel is presently reading the lead judgment in the case.
The tribunal member had started with some preliminary motions challenging the competence of some aspects of the petition.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, declared Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the State.
Sanwo-Olu was declared winner, after winning the election by a landslide, defeating Rhodes-Vivour of the LP, who came second, and Adidiran of the PDP, who came third in the election.
The Lagos Governor polled a total vote of 762,134 votes to win against Rhodes-Vivour, who scored 312,329 votes, and Adediran of the PDP, who came a distant third, polling 62,449 votes.
