The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has said the swearing-in of the incoming administration of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will hold as long as God tarries.
The SGF made this statement on Thursday according to a release by the Director, Media and Publicity, Tinubu/Shettima campaign, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday via his Twitter handle.
The release was titled: “Swearing-in of Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 29 May Sacrosanct:”
Mustapha was quoted saying, “Without any fear of contradiction, there will be inauguration on May 29. This is not the first time, during the election of former President Shehu Shagari there was litigation but the country went ahead with the inauguration.
“Also, During the election of former President Olusegun Obasanjo there was litigation but we continued with the swearing in.
“It was only former President Goodluck Jonathan that did not take the route of litigation.
“So, as long as the Lord tarries there will be inauguration.”
Recall that, there have been speculations from various political corners of the country concerning whether or not Tinubu should be sworn-in, especially, following the controversies that trailed the presidential election that brought him in as the president-elect.
The Vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has also called for an interim government to be set up after the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), expires.
However, the Defence Headquarters, as well as other security agencies have termed such request as anti-democracy and would not stand, vowing to ensure the swearing-in of the incoming administration on May 29.
