President Bola Tinubu has formally welcomed former President of the Senate, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, into the All Progressives Congress.
Anyim, who also served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party.
At a meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, Anyim was presented to President Tinubu by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru.
Anyim had hinted at his departure from the PDP in March 2023, when he directed his supporters in Ebonyi State to vote for Nwifuru, the APC’s gubernatorial candidate at the time.
After meeting with President Tinubu, Anyim told correspondents: “I joined the APC to contribute my quota to the development of the country.”
President Tinubu welcomed Anyim into the APC, marking a significant addition to the party’s ranks. Details of the meeting are expected to emerge later.
