President Bola Tinubu has announced a significant reshuffle of his ministerial cabinet, which includes the merging and dissolution of key ministries.
This decision was made during the Federal Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, as confirmed by the president’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
In the statement, Onanuga revealed that Tinubu has scrapped both the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development.
The president has also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
“President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development,” Onanuga stated.
He explained that a newly formed Ministry of Regional Development will now oversee all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the North West Development Commission, the South West Development Commission, and the North East Development Commission.
Additionally, the National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development.
“The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy,” Onanuga added.
