President Bola Tinubu celebrated the 90th birthday of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, on Thursday, showering praises on the revered monarch.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu hailed Oba Adetona as “a dependable ally.”
The statement titled ‘President Tinubu celebrates Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona at 90’ emphasized Tinubu’s admiration for the monarch’s steadfast leadership.
Ngelale conveyed Tinubu’s joy at Oba Adetona’s milestone age, highlighting the monarch’s unwavering commitment to his duties as the ruler of Ijebuland.
Tinubu described Oba Adetona as more than just a traditional ruler, but as a figure who brought honor, integrity, dignity, courage, and impeccable strength of character to the throne over the last 60 years.
The President stated, “I have always enjoyed the trust, friendship, and confidence of Kabiyesi Awujale Ogbagba ll in the course of my political journey, through the struggles of our fight for the return of democratic governance in our country and beyond my tenure as Governor of Lagos State.”
He continued, “Throughout these epochs in my political odyssey, Oba Adetona has remained a pillar of strength and support. In matters of fighting for justice, fairness, equity, and a more just society where every part of our country can progress and our people live peacefully and in harmony with each other, Kabiyesi has been a dependable ally.”
Tinubu also highlighted Oba Adetona’s contributions to nation-building, including his advocacy for democracy and good governance, as well as his establishment of a chair in governance at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
As the respected monarch celebrates his 90th birthday and 64 years on the throne, Tinubu wished him more years in good health and on the throne of his forebears.
Other notable personalities also extended their greetings to Awujale on his birthday and his long reign.
Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, praised the king as a patriotic leader and a source of wise counsel for the nation’s development.
Former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, also lauded Oba Adetona for his remarkable reign and service to humanity.
Additionally, businessman Kensington Adebutu, former militant leader High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, and Senator Olalekan Mustapha, among others, congratulated the monarch on his 90th birthday and 64 years on the throne, praising his exemplary leadership and commitment to duty.
